Dysplay: Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions govern participation in the Dysplay 2024 Photo Competition (the “Competition”) organised by Dysfunct Magazine (“Organiser”). By submitting an entry, participants agree to comply with these terms.
2. Dates
Submission Period: Submissions open on 1st November 2024 and close on 15th December 2024 at 11:59pm AEDT.
3. Eligibility
The Competition is open to photographers of all ages, worldwide. Entrants under the age of 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to enter. By submitting an entry, those under 18 confirm they have obtained such consent, and the parent or guardian agrees to these Terms and Conditions on their behalf.
4. Submission Guidelines
Theme: All submissions must be automotive-related and creatively capture the automotive scene.
Evaluation Criteria: Submissions will be evaluated based on Relevance to Automotive (Car) Theme, Creativity & Originality, Composition & Technique, and Emotional Impact & Storytelling.
Content Restrictions: No graphic design elements, logo watermarks, illustrations, or AI-generated or AI-assisted images.
Technical Requirements: Photos must have a resolution of at least 240ppi and be no larger than 10MB in JPEG format.
Submission Process: Entries must be submitted via the designated entry form on the Dysfunct Magazine website. Only one photo per photographer will be selected if successful.
Time Frame: Photos must be taken during the official submission period; metadata may be checked for verification.
5. Prizes
Awards:
1st Prize: $1,000 AUD
2nd Prize: $300 AUD
3rd Prize: $200 AUD
Publication: Selected photographs will feature in Dysfunct Magazine Issue Six (DYS006), and winners will also be featured with an interview.
6. Social Media Promotion
Selected entries may be showcased on Dysfunct’s Instagram during the submission window.
Entrants wishing to share their submissions on personal Instagram accounts are encouraged to use the hashtag #dysplay24 to promote the competition.
7. Rolling Selection Process
The selection of successful entries will be conducted on a rolling basis throughout the submission window, allowing early submissions a higher chance of being reviewed, selected, and shared on Instagram.
8. Contacting Photographers
Photographers selected during the rolling process will be notified by email as they are chosen. Any remaining photographers will be notified within one week after the submission period closes. If a photographer hasn’t heard back by that time, their entry hasn’t been selected.
9. Intellectual Property and Usage Rights
Ownership: Photographers retain ownership of their submitted photos.
Usage Rights: By submitting an entry, participants grant Dysfunct Magazine non-exclusive rights to use the photos for print and digital media, including but not limited to the magazine, website, and social media. Credit, including the photographer's name and/or Instagram handle, will be provided alongside each use.
10. Submission Confirmation
Participants will receive an automated confirmation email upon successful submission.
11. General Conditions
By entering the Competition, participants confirm their compliance with these Terms and Conditions and release Dysfunct Magazine from any liability related to the submission and use of the photos.
12. Amendments
Dysfunct Magazine reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions as needed.
